Ankeny Woods Apartments
portland, oregon
The Ankeny Woods Apartments is a low-income housing
community located in Southeast Portland.
The property was constructed in 1997 and includes 4 separate apartment
buildings that contain a total of 42 apartments. The unit mix is composed of
1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, 3-bedroom, and 4-bedroom apartments. KASA Architects assisted Our Just Future in
an extensive renovation that included replacing the roofing, siding, windows,
doors, and entry landings. As part of the exterior work, the roof drainage was
improved, a rainscreen was introduced in the cladding assembly, and exterior
balconies were removed. Existing raised planters that are adjacent to the
exterior walls were excavated, waterproofed and replanted. Interior
improvements included replumbing the domestic water supply lines; installing
energy recovery ventilators; replacing the cabinets, fixtures and finishes in
the bathroom and kitchens; upgrading the flooring throughout each unit; and
refreshing the interiors with new doors, new paint, and new window blinds.
Community improvements included separating the leasing office from the
manager’s unit, constructing a resident services office, rejuvenating the
community room with new finishes and furnishings, and revitalizing the outdoor
spaces by creating a new playground and a separate seating area and bike locker
area.
Our services included a capital needs assessment, design
development, construction documents, bidding, permitting and construction
administration.
